Inner Light
Restoring Your Inner Tide Through Movement, Breath & Self-Compassion
Introduction: Riding the Waves of Healing
Depression can feel like being caught in a deep undercurrent, pulling us
away from light, movement, and vitality. But just as the ocean finds balance
between ebb and flow, we, too, can restore our inner rhythm.
Through gentle waves of movement, breath, and self-compassion,
yoga becomes a lifeline, helping us surface from stagnation and reconnect with
the tide of renewal within.
Navigating Emotional Ripples &
Energetic Currents
Depression isn’t just emotional—it affects the entire energetic system,
like still waters disrupted by unseen turbulence.
🌫️ Heavy waters—energy feels
weighed down, stuck, or slow-moving. 💨 Disconnected currents—a sense
of numbness, as if floating without direction. 🔄 Mental whirlpools—thoughts
looping like waves crashing against the same shore.
Yoga guides us back to fluidity, helping release emotional
heaviness and restore prana—the life force that flows like water through us,
carrying renewal with every breath.
Breathwork: Anchoring in the Ocean of
the Present Moment
Just as waves steady themselves against the shore, breath is our
anchor, reminding us that even in emotional storms, we can return to center.
🌊 Pranayama Practice: Ujjayi
Breath ("Ocean Breath") This breath mimics the rhythmic sound of waves, grounding
and calming the mind.
1️⃣ Inhale deeply through the nose, filling the belly like a rising tide. 2️⃣
Exhale slowly through the nose, creating a soft “whisper” sound, like waves
retreating on the shore. 3️⃣ Continue for 2-5 minutes, allowing the breath to
soothe and guide you back to balance.
Healing Wave Flow:
Movement as Emotional Release
Each pose invites gentle ebb and flow, helping emotions shift and
energy move freely.
💙 Child’s Pose (Balasana) –
Surrendering to stillness, floating in trust. 🔥 Sun Breath (Arms Overhead Inhale,
Exhale Forward Fold) – Expanding light like the morning tide. 🌱 Supported Bridge Pose (Setu Bandha
Sarvangasana) – Lifting out of heaviness, cresting toward renewal. 💨 Seated Forward Fold
(Paschimottanasana) – Releasing stagnant waters, letting go of emotional
tension. 💫 Legs Up the Wall (Viparita Karani)
– A final drift into balance, restoring energy.
💠Intention: “Like the ocean, I
am fluid. I allow emotions to rise and fall, knowing light always returns.” 🔅 Mantra: “Om Mani Padme
Hum”—calling in deep compassion, riding the waves of self-acceptance.
Closing Reflection:
Trusting the Tide
Depression teaches us to be patient with the ebb and flow of healing. Just as
waves reshape the shore, each breath, each movement, each act of self-kindness reshapes
our inner landscape—bringing us closer to light.
💠Journaling Prompt: "What
part of me is ready to float again? How can I surrender to renewal?"
Closing Meditation:
Floating in Stillness 🌊
💠Find a quiet space. Sit or lie
down comfortably. Close your eyes.
🌬️ Breathe in deeply—imagine a
soft wave rising within you. 💨 Exhale slowly—feel the wave
retreat, carrying away tension and weight. 💙 With each breath, picture yourself
floating, supported by the rhythm of the ocean, held by the steady flow of
healing energy.
✨ As you breathe, whisper to yourself: "I am carried by the waves
of renewal. I trust in my healing journey."
💛 Stay here for a few moments—allow
yourself to feel light, fluid, and free.
